I am literally afraid of mine after a huge chunk of my right thumb is now missing for good. Easter of 2000 spent in the ER. I thought the mandoline was expensive, nothing compared to the medical bill. Any mention of it makes me cringe. I have used it only twice since then (with the guard)and I only do it so a "thing" doesn't beat me. Careful and god luck!
